A while back I had posted some artwork for a couple of upcoming shorts, one of which is called "Here We Go." The artist originally attached to this had to back out of the project due to some other deadlines so I began the hunt for another artist. I looked at hundreds of artists and I am proud to say that I've finally found someone. That someone is the incredibly talented, Anwar Madrigal.
Anwar had some nice samples but it was his character design for the Pirate Monkey that won me over. My decision to choose Anwar as the artist was solidified when he sent over the designs for the mother, son and their house. Exactly the kind of style I was imagining for this short. He also just sent over the rough for Page 1 and I can promise you, this is going to be a lot of fun.
"Here We Go" is a 10 page short about a mother and a son. It is his first day going to a new school and he's a bit nervous, so the mother does what she always does when he is nervous or scared. She takes them on an "adventure." On this adventure they will see everything from aliens, dinosaurs and yes, even some Pirate Monkeys.
See below for some of Anwar's awesome character designs. He and I are both really excited about this short and we can't to share it with you. Stay tuned. Hopefully we can release this soon.
